The government spokesman on Basim of Al-Awadi confirmed that the participation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani in the Munich Security Summit is a timely and appropriate political and diplomatic step, while clarifying its importance for Iraq.
Al-Awadi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Munich Security Conference, in its (59th) edition, is one of the largest and most important conferences that discuss security policy in the world, during which hundreds of decision-makers from different countries of the world and in various security, political and military fields meet to discuss the situation." the world and the challenges it faces at various levels.
He added, "The conference is held annually and lasts for 3 days. It has shifted from focusing on defense issues only to a forum for politicians, diplomats and researchers. It is a unique platform at the international level to discuss security policies within the framework of dozens of sessions with the participation of the highest leaders in the world.".
He continued, "Regarding Iraq's participation, Al-Awadi explained, "This participation, in which the Iraqi delegation will be headed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, is a timely and appropriate political and diplomatic step. At the security level, Iraq is still facing the challenges of ISIS terrorism and its sleeper cells or lone wolves, which requires international security coordination between Iraq." And many countries concerned with confronting the file of terrorism internally and externally.
He added, "As for the political level, the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war, in terms of energy and food, were reflected in most countries of the world, including Iraq, while its political repercussions had a direct impact on our region (West Asia) in reshaping the major political alliances in the region, which imposes on Iraq And his political leadership is to actively engage in the folds of the conference and its sensitive details in order to know the direction of the general compass, and the nature of the political convictions that will form in their entirety maps of action according to which many influential countries will move towards West Asia, as it is the global point of attraction for energy sources, which has become an essential part of the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine and its successors. He continued, "This is in addition to the fact that this forum is considered an annual global opportunity for political decision-makers and high-ranking leaders to communicate, meet and exchange quick, direct messages, which made it an unmissable annual destination for dozens of global decision-makers, while the new Iraqi government led by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani is concerned with defining itself."
