The Ministry of Transport revealed that the air fleet has been updated with 31 aircraft, numbers of which have been received, while the rest of the time has been set for arrival in Iraq.
The media office of the Ministry of Transport said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Iraqi Airways is moving forward in completing projects to purchase aircraft according to direct contracts between the Iraqi government and Boeing and Airbus . "
He added, "The ministry is following up with interest the development and modernization of operational plans to accommodate the new numbers of aircraft, including the technical and commercial staff of Iraqi Airways, developing skills, e-marketing systems, and opening new stations to communicate with the world."
He pointed out, "The contracts for the purchase of aircraft include the entry of 5 Airbus 220 aircraft, 4 of which have been received, and the remaining one aircraft will be delivered next May," noting that "Iraqi Airways has the option of adding five aircraft of the same type if the interest requires that." .
"Six Boeing 737 MAX_8 aircraft will also be introduced during the current year, two aircraft for each of the months of February, March and April, respectively, and two Boeing 787 Dreamliner wide-body long-range aircraft out of ten aircraft." He added.
The media office indicated, “The delivery schedules include the completion of the delivery of all aircraft of this model by the end of 2026, and ten Boeing 737max -10 aircraft will also be introduced, provided that processing begins by 2024 and ends in 2027, and thus the total number of modern aircraft added will be 31 aircraft.
