Trade Minister: Iraq's environment is encouraging for investment

    The Minister of Trade, Atheer Al-Ghurairy, called on Arab countries to urge their companies to invest in Iraq.

    The Ministry of Trade stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Minister of Trade Atheer Dawood Al-Ghurairy headed the delegation of the Republic of Iraq participating in the meetings of the Economic and Social Council in its regular session (111) for the ministerial level in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, at the headquarters of the Arab League, which was held under the presidency of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.".

    The ministry added, "Al-Ghurairy welcomed, during the speech of the Republic of Iraq, which he delivered at the meeting of the Council of Ministers and all participants in the meeting, and thanked the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and all employees of the General Secretariat," directing "the invitation to all Arab countries to urge their companies in the public and private sectors to take advantage of the available investment opportunities." In Iraq and benefiting from the advantages of the Iraqi investment law, the fact that Iraq is now, and in light of the directions of the current government, is enjoying a very safe and encouraging investment environment. 

    The Ministry also continued, "The council meeting at the ministerial level, which concluded its work today, had discussed several issues, the most important of which was the development of trade exchange among Arab countries, and a focus on Arab food security through the abundant resources that characterize Arab countries, as well as social issues, the most prominent of which was giving thanks and appreciation to the Republic of Iraq for its great achievement for the Arab nation for hosting the Gulf Football Tournament (Gulf 25) in Basra.

    In addition to that, the Ministry stressed that "the council also discussed issues of multidimensional social development, governance and its role in improving the financial performance of institutions, and Arab and international cooperation in the social and development fields."
