Al-Sudani issues directives regarding the demonstrators who are political prisoners

    Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, issued on Sunday,  directives regarding the demonstrators who are political prisoners, including the release of suspended salaries for unresolved judicial transactions until they are legally settled.

    The media office of the Prime Minister said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA),"In response to the demonstrators' demands regarding former political prisoners, whose salaries were suspended, Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, ordered a specialized committee from the concerned departments to meet with them and listen to their complaints."

     Prime Minister also emphasized that addressing these issues must also be according to legal regulations and protect the state's rights while taking into account the interest of affected citizens. 

    The statement added "The committee completed its interviews with the applicants and consultations with the State Shura Council, the Iraqi Political Prisoners Foundation, the National Retirement Authority, and the legal advisor in the Prime Minister's Office and submitted its recommendations," which the Prime Minister approved:

    - Release suspended salaries for unresolved legal cases until they are duly settled, according to the law. - The aggrieved party may request a retrial for legally settled cases after exhausting the legal appeal procedures. 

    - A specialized committee of representatives from the National Retirement Authority, the Office of the Prime Minister, and the Iraqi Political Prisoners Foundation shall implement the recommendations above.
