A medical team at King Abdulaziz Medical City Hospital in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, succeeded in completing the separation operation of Iraqi Siamese twins.
The director of the medical team supervising the surgery, Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, said: "The operation to separate the Iraqi twins Omar and Ali succeeded, and the stage of organ restoration began.".
He explained, "The surgery took place in six stages and lasted 11 hours," noting that the success rate of the operation was 70%. due to the adhesion of the twins to the lower chest and abdomen, and their participation in the liver, bile ducts.”
He added, “The twins underwent skin extension devices implantation, by the plastic surgery team; to help cover the place of surgery after the separation.”.
The process of separating the twins began early this morning, through the medical and surgical team, with the participation of 27 consultants, specialists, and nursing and technical cadres, at King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children.
