The Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, affirmed that the wonderful city of Basra, with its sports facilities, fans, and preparations to host the (25th) edition of the Gulf Championship, is today fully prepared to produce a distinguished public tournament that will be a milestone in the history of Iraqi sports and what will be presented during this tournament, which gained throughout its history, it has a distinguished position and an influential dimension throughout our Arab world.
A statement by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Friday, stated that "this came during an invitation to host a group of former national team stars who represented Iraq in the Gulf Championships, at the guesthouse in Baghdad today.".
Al-Mubarqa added, "Our reception of these majestic sports figures today, of which we are all proud, was a main pillar in the success of the previous Gulf championships, and even the only championship that was organized four decades ago in Baghdad, is in itself a very important message of success and reassurance.".
The head of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Raad Hamoudi, introduced the former stars of our national team and indicated the importance of the presence and work of our former stars and sent positive impressions to everyone that all our sports and service institutions work with one hand in the spirit of one team in order to produce the championship in the most beautiful speaking image to the world.
