The Iraqi National Security service INSS announced on Wednesday arresting a member of a hacking network that hacks databases of government institutions in Dhi Qar province.
"After receiving accurate intelligence information indicating the existence of a network to hack information and penetrate databases of government institutions in Dhi Qar province, our detachments were able, after obtaining judicial approvals, to arrest a member of the network who was in possession of a computer containing a government database," said a statement by INSS, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The statement added that "by recording the statements of the accused, he confessed to being linked to a hacking network that is communicated with through social media platforms."
"The accused was referred with the seizures to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary measures against him," the statement said.
