Iraq enters new wave of COVID-19, says MOH

    Ministry of Health- MOH announced on Wednesday, that Iraq has entered a new wave of the COVID-19, while confirming the continuous monitoring of students' health status by health coordinators in schools.
     
    “Iraq is witnessing a slight increase in the number of coronavirus infections during the current week," The Director of Public Health, Riyad Abdul-Amir Al-Halfi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), noting that "Iraq is going through a weak wave compared to the previous waves of the virus."
     
    Al-Halfi added that "The measure adopted to know the severity of the virus is the rate of positive cases, which is related to the number of positive tests out of the total number," indicating that "Iraq reached 38% in previous positive waves, but now the recorded positive rate is only 2%."
     
    He pointed out that "All hospitals and health centers are fully prepared for any emergency, affirming that no death cases were recorded this week".
     
    Regarding the seasonal flu virus, Al-Halfi confirmed the presence of a health coordinator in schools who monitors the health status of students, as they send infected students to the nearest health center to take the necessary treatment.
