The government calls for support the Prime Minister-designate and clarifies on the issue of tax deposits

    The government called for the support of the elected President of the Republic and the Prime Minister-designate, while it clarified details regarding Iraq's financial situation during its reign and others related to the issue of corruption related to the file of tax deposits.
    The spokesman for the Council of Ministers and Minister of Culture, Hassan Nazim, said during a press conference attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi confirmed in today's session of the Council of Ministers his support for the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid and the Prime Minister-designate, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, and called on the political forces to give the designate Freedom to choose his cabinet.
    "The current government worked for about two years without budgets and started working from the first day to restore balance in the country's economy and launched the white paper for economic reform. Iraq now possesses 134 tons of gold and $85 billion in cash reserves." Nazim added.
    He continued, "The government is the one who exposed the issue of corruption in the Tax Authority, and it is currently in the custody of the judiciary, also, what was allocated to the Prime Minister's office under the emergency support law was not spent at all, and it is not related to office furniture, as is rumored, but rather to compensation for the martyrs and wounded and securing the Iraqi borders."
    In turn, Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar confirmed during the same conference that "the report submitted by the government during his assumption of responsibility as acting finance minister regarding breach of trust is the first in 17 years and included 400 pages and it was sent to the judiciary."
    "The Director General of Taxes and other staff were relieved due to the issue of tax trusts." Oil Minister added.
    For her part, Acting Minister of Finance Hiyam Nemat Mahmoud confirmed during the press conference that "the ministry continues to cooperate with the judicial authorities in the issue of tax deposits, and its doors are open to the concerned authorities in this matter and is fully prepared to meet any requirements to reveal the facts."
