BOC: Demonstrators protection plan is going as planned

    Baghdad Operations Commander, Lieutenant General Ahmed Salim, confirmed today, Saturday, that the plan to secure the demonstrators is proceeding as decreed for it, and there is no intention to cut other bridges, while indicating that there is no justification for imposing a curfew.

    Staff Lieutenant-General Ahmed Salim told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The plan is going as it was decreed on both sides of Karkh and Rusafa, specifically in Tahrir and Nassour Squares.".

    Salim also added that "friction occurred with part of the demonstrators in Tahrir Square, and it is expected that there were infiltrators who tried to stir up riots," noting that "there are minor injuries.".

    He pointed out that "the forces charged with protecting the demonstrators are obliged to exercise restraint to avoid casualties among the demonstrators.".
