First deputy speaker of parliament, Mr. Hassan Karim al-Kabi, received on Wednesday the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Maxim Maximov, and discussed with him the possible ways to activate the agreements signed between the two friendly countries, particularly on the parliamentary side. According to a statement received by INA, al-Kabi called upon the Russian Ambassador to ease as much as possible the procedures for Iraqi students who wish to continue their studies in Moscow and have already attained admission. Al-Kabi noted also that the mechanisms to provide and increase scholarships in the future should be activated, stressing too the importance of opening an Iraqi-Russian cultural center in Baghdad for linguistic studies and the exchange of experiences as well as developing capabilities in various fields. On his side Mr. Maximov extended an invitation to the first deputy speaker to visit Russia in order to work on developing bilateral relations between the two sides emphasizing his country’s readiness to develop cooperation in issues of common interests between the two countries and have wider dealings with concerned Iraqi parliamentary committees as well as opening new horizons for investment and economic cooperation for the best interest of the two nations, in addition to cooperation in building military and security capabilities and escalating the efforts to eliminate terrorism.
