The Popular Mobilization Forces PMF announced Thursday launching a security operation in western Mosul.
PMF said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "a joint force of the army and the PMF carried out an inspection operation west of the city of Mosul."
It added, "The operation aims to pursue Daesh remnants and secure the villages and hills west of Mosul," noting that "the operation involved the 53rd and 33rd brigades, the Intelligence, Communications, Media and Security Operations Command departments, the Medical Department, Military Engineering, Anti-Explosives, and Media for the Popular Mobilization Forces, the 15th Division of the Iraqi Army, and the Iraqi Army Command west of Nineve.”
