The Joint Operations Command-JOC denied on Tuesday, the rumors about deploying snipers on the rooftops of the Green Zone buildings, stressing the importance of being accurate in transmitting information and knowing the facts from its official sources.
"At a time when we stressed the need to combat rumors and not transmit false and fabricated news or repost videos or photos dating back to previous events and try to delude others that it happened recently, we note that there are those who deliberately publish such topics without checking them, " JOC said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"Some social media outlets circulated a video claiming that there are planes carrying out landing operations for snipers on the rooftops of the buildings of the Green Zone," the statement added.
The statement continued, "We would like to note that the circulated video belongs to training operations carried out by the heroes in the Counter-Terrorism Service earlier," calling on everyone to "be careful in transmitting information and knowing the facts from its official sources."
