The Marsh Revival Center of the Ministry of Water Resources in Dhi Qar confirmed today, Friday, "a series of measures to reduce the effects of water scarcity in the Chabayish marshes and the rest of the governorate's marshes through a series of steps.

" He added, “The marshes have paid the price for the consequences of water scarcity, and the Ministry of Water Resources continues its efforts to reduce the effects of this scarcity.”.

He added, “The previous three seasons witnessed a decline in rainfall, and neighboring Turkey also reduced water flows across the Tigris and Euphrates rivers to Iraq, which greatly affected the waters that reach the marshes. And cut the size of agricultural plans in half.".

He continued, "The Marsh Revitalization Center, based on the directives of the Ministry of Water Resources, has implemented measures to address since the beginning of this summer, firstly refining the rivers feeding the marshes, and secondly by delivering water rations to ensure the stability of the local population and the ease of movement of their boats.".

He pointed out that "work is underway as a third step to purify the Abu Lehya River, the back end of the Bid'ah River, and the deep course of Hawr Abu Zark. There are ongoing works in all areas of Dhi Qar, close to the marshes, from Suq al-Shuyukh to the Chabayish marshes, with the continued pumping of liquefaction water."
