the Ministry of Culture announced on Thursday, government plans to rehabilitate and develop Baghdad's squares, while revealing efforts to place a new statue of the poet
Muhammad Mahdi al-Jawahiri in the capital.
The Director of the Public Arts Department in the ministry, Fakher Muhammad, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the ministry met with the Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kadhem, to discuss the file of heritage houses and to put a new statue of the poet Muhammad Mahdi al-Jawahiri near the Tigris River."
It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister inaugurated, earlier, the house of the greatest Arab poet Muhammad Mahdi Al-Jawahiri in the Al-Qadisiyah neighborhood in the capital, Baghdad, after turning it into a museum and cultural center, in which his collections, poetry collections, pictures, and some other holdings are displayed."
