Planning ministry holds Joint governmental meeting with international organizations to reform social protection system

    The Ministry of Planning announced on Wednesday holding of a joint governmental meeting with international organizations on the program of reform of the social protection system, while noting the submission of a proposal to prepare a unified record of social protection.

    The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency INA, that "the steering committee of the joint social protection program between the Iraqi government, the European Union and the United Nations, held its third meeting under the chairmanship of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for Technical Affairs Maher Hammad Johan," noting that "the meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce Sattar Al-Jabri, a number of directors-general in the Ministry of Planning, Labor and Trade, and representatives of European Union, UNICEF and International Labor organizations, as well as the World Food Program."

    In a speech during the meeting, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for Technical Affairs Maher Hammad Johan said, "During the meeting, they discussed finding an appropriate working mechanism for coordination between the implementing bodies and the beneficiary government agencies, while reviewing the challenges and problems that may face us during the implementation through the preparation of the plan to ensure the achievement of the goal, which includes building an effective integrated social protection program."

    He explained that "this program is one of the important and large programs in which a number of ministries and international organizations participate," pointing out that "one of its outputs will be the preparation of a unified record of social protection, in addition to the preparation of an integrated reform map that ensures the development of the capacities of decision makers and workers to implement the file of social protection."

    For her part, the Head of the Cooperation Department in the European Union, Barbara Iger, confirmed in a speech on the electronic platform Zoom that "this program represents a great opportunity to reform the social system in Iraq and is very important for the vulnerable groups that have been given priority in the program," pointing out that "we aspire to work with all partners in order to achieve its outputs.
