Maysan Governorate Police Directorate announced on Saturday, the arrest of two drug dealers in Al-Uzair district, south of Al-Amarah.
A statement by the Directorate, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "After receiving accurate intelligence information about the presence of two drug dealers coming from Baghdad governorate to the Al-Uzair sub-district of Qala'at Saleh district, south of Maysan governorate."
Immediately, official approvals were obtained from the competent judge, and a working team was formed by the Directorate of Narcotics and a force from the Iraqi army under the supervision of the Director of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs in Maysan, as a tight ambush was set up for them at dawn today on the road linking Qala'at Saleh district and Al-Uzair sub-district, and they were besieged and arrested, the statement added.
The statement confirmed that "Inside the wheel the gang was traveling in, large bags containing crystal narcotics were seized, estimated at (12) kilograms, and (3) bags of hashish estimated at (3) kilograms."
