The Russian Foreign Ministry handed today, Thursday, the British ambassador in Moscow a note of protest, against the background of the statements it described as "inappropriate" by the British leadership regarding Russia.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not have invaded Ukraine if he were a woman.

The ministry said in a statement, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "British Ambassador Deborah Brunert received a note stating that (aggressive speech from representatives of the British authorities is unacceptable)," according to its text.
Russia called on "the British leadership to apologize for such statements."
Today, during a press conference held in Turkmenistan on the occasion of the Caspian Sea Summit, which brought together Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, in response to a question about his reaction after Johnson's statements, "I just want to remember the events of recent history in this regard. "Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher decided to start military action against the Falkland Islands in Argentina? Wasn't it a woman who decided to start hostilities? Where are these Falkland Islands and where is Britain? This was dictated only by imperial ambitions and the assertion of their imperial status."
"I think that in any case, it is not a valid signal from the current Prime Minister of Britain."
