The death sentence for 9 leaders of Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt

    An Egyptian court sentenced to death the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Yahya Moussa, and 9 others out of 215 people, accusing them of forming armed groups to carry out hostile operations against police personnel, officers and facilities .

    The referral order stated that the defendants, during the period from August 14, 2013 until February 2, 2015, in the Cairo and Giza governorates, led a group that was founded in violation of the provisions of the law, the purpose of which is to call for the suspension of the provisions of the constitution and laws, and to prevent state institutions and public authorities from carrying out their work. The assault on the personal freedom of citizens, and the public liberties and rights guaranteed by the constitution and the law, and harming national unity and social peace .

    The investigation authorities assigned the accused to having committed premeditated and premeditated murder crimes associated with the felony of murder and attempted murder of others, policemen and citizens, assembly, sabotage, use of force, violence and threats with public officials to get them to refrain from performing their work, founding a group contrary to the provisions of the law and supplying the group with weapons ammunition and explosives .

    Earlier, the Fourth Circuit of Terrorism, of the Emergency Supreme State Security Criminal Court, in the Tora Courts Complex, issued a ruling on 5 defendants, including 4 imprisoned in the Al-Furqan Brigades cell, which was established on the commission of the terrorist Hisham Ashmawi .

    The court sentenced Abdullah Amer to life imprisonment, Mohamed Ahmed Mustafa to 10 years, Mohamed Mahmoud Mamdouh to 10 years, Ahmed Mohamed Tawfiq to 5 years, and Mohamed Ahmed Azab to 15 years .
