The Federal Integrity Commission -FCOI-announced on Monday, its participation to represent Iraq in the 13th Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).
FCOI said in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency (INA) that," The governmental team headed by the head of FCOI, Alaa Jawad Al-Saadi and the head of the Board of Supreme Audit Rafel Yassin Khudair will review, during the conference to be held in Vienna for the period from (13-17 June), the extent of the commitment of the Republic of Iraq to respond to the requirements of accession to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, that Iraq joined under Law No. (35) of 2007, whether in the legislative field and completing the legal system of combating corruption, or the educational awareness aspect represented by holding workshops and seminars, organizing awareness programs, and creating a center for training the regulatory bodies represented by the Iraqi Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA).”
The statement added, "Iraq's efforts in implementing decisions and requirements for accession to the Convention in the areas of preventive and investigative injustice will be reviewed and significant achievements achieved in those areas, as well as in the formulation of public policies and strategies, and the adoption of a strategy for integrity and the fight against corruption."
