The Ministry of Communications has determined, today, Saturday, the percentage of completion of the international access gates project and the date of its entry into force, while confirming that Iraq has adopted two measures to be taken to confront cyber attacks.
The Director-General of the Department of Foreign Relations and Information in the Ministry, Adel Al-Araji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "work is continuing on the international access gates project, and the completion rate is currently advanced and has reached 60%," noting that "the expected time for completion of the project and its entry into operation. Not to exceed two months at the end of July or the beginning of next August.
On the methods of countering cyber attacks, he explained, "There are measures to resist and prevent cyber attacks in Iraq, and they adopt two measures, the first is to resist these attacks by fortifying the sites of institutions and laying a technical firewall on them, and the second is to take measures to limit the damage of those attacks after they occur.".
He pointed out that "there is a document that was approved by the Council of Ministers and circulated in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers called (Policies and Standards Document for Information Security and Data Sharing)," noting that "this document specifies the trends of workers and those who have contact with devices and data.".
He pointed out that "among the policies that can be followed in order to reduce damage, the work of the National Security Advisory is a cybersecurity strategy that extends for the coming years, especially since it requires societal awareness and culture towards attacks."
