Al-Zamili: Oil smuggling operations occur under the supervision of oil companies and mafias

    The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hakim Al-Zamili, confirmed that the smuggling of oil derivatives amounts to half the size of the actual export of Iraqi oil, indicating that it goes to mafias and parties by international oil companies.
     The media office of the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives stated in a statement that “Al-Zamili chaired an expanded meeting of the Parliamentary Oil and Energy Committees, and Security and Defense, during which the Energy Police Commander, Major General Ghanim Muhammad, and a number of leaders and officers in the Police Command were hosted, in the presence of representatives of the security guards of the Oil and Energy Police.  
    Al-Zamili said during the hosting, which took place at the request of Representative Haider Al-Mansoori, that "what is indicated by confirmed information is that the smuggling operations of oil derivatives amount to half the size of the actual export of Iraqi oil, and this means wasting very large financial fortunes, which go to mafias, and specialized influential parties." It hired international oil companies to install smuggling equipment."
      "Sabotage also affected the electricity sector, where energy towers were bombed once by terrorism with the aim of destabilizing, and several times at the hands of influential parties seeking to obtain a maintenance contract and reconstruction of these towers that are being sabotaged, according to the available information, noting that these violations affect also, border crossings, taxes, customs, and ports, all of which deprive the country and Iraqis of huge revenues, will make a big positive change if they go in the right direction. Al-Zamili added.
