The Ministry of Health revealed the controls adopted by it in sending patients for treatment abroad, while it disclosed the advantages of bringing foreign teams to the country.
Ministry spokesman Saif Al-Badr said, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the recruitment and medical evacuation is a fixed program with the ministry, through which dozens of patients are sent annually from rare cases that are difficult to treat inside the country for treatment outside the country according to government controls and instructions.".
Al-Badr indicated, "The Ministry of Health deals in this context with countries, namely India and Turkey, where it sends hundreds, and the number may reach thousands of patients annually, according to the type of cases.".
He explained, "Among the approved controls, there is a benefit from sending the patient, the type of operation, and the institution to which the patient will be sent, as well as following up on the post-operative procedures and ensuring the success of the operation and its benefit to the patient and other matters that are taken into account before the decision to send patient for treatment abroad.
Al-Badr pointed out that "the importance of bringing foreign teams to the country lies in reducing the costs of travel for the patient and his companions, in addition to taking into account the social aspects and the ease and speed of handling cases," noting that "recruitment facilitates the process of training staff and health teams, which in turn will gain experience that can then be dispensed with.".
