Ministry of Oil announced Thursday discussions to raise the production of the Rumaila field to one million and 700 thousand barrels per day.
The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail met in the British capital, London, CEO of (BP) Bernard Looney."
The ministry added, "During the meeting, they discussed mechanisms to support development plans and programs for the Rumaila oil field in southern Iraq, in order to achieve the goal of peak production of one million and 700 thousand barrels per day."
The ministry also said that , "The assistance and support programs provided by the energy giant Company in the world were discussed to invest the gas associated with oil operations in the Rumaila oil field, in a way that contributes to providing the available quantities of invested gas to support the energy sector in Iraq, as well as maximizing the national return, in addition to achieving the requirements of preserving the environment and public health, and opportunities for cooperation in the field of clean energy were also discussed.
