The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced on Tuesday, launching new security operation on the outskirts of Khanaqin district.
The commander of the 23rd Brigade at PMF, Bashir Al-Anbaki, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "A force from the 23rd and 28th brigades, commandos launched a raid and search operation in the areas of "Aliawa, Bustan Badria and Toufan" and the areas adjacent to the Alwand River on the outskirts of Khanaqin.
Al-Anbaki added that "The operation was launched according to intelligence information that Daesh members attempted to infiltrate in order to target the security of citizens in the aforementioned areas."
