Ministry of Health announced on Saturday, the number of cases of Viral Haemorrhagic Fevers - VHFs, while it identified three measures to control it as it called on housewives to deal cautiously with meat through 3 measures.
"The number of VHFs cases is still increasing, and it has so far reached nearly 24 cases," said the Director General of Public Health at the Ministry of Health, Riyad Al-Hilfi, to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
He added, "There are three measures to control the spread of VHFs, the first is for veterinarians to carry out extensive campaigns to spray pesticides in animal pens and homes of the infected and their neighbors in contact, in addition to the process of picking animals with pesticides," noting that "these measures are enough to kill the vector insects, which is the tick. Thus, the transmission chain ends,".
"The second measure is on the responsibility of the Ministry of Interior to prevent the movement of animals from one governorate to another, and movement within the governorate so stop the spread, while the third procedure stresses the prevention of random islands, and this is one of the most important causes of disease transmission, in addition to the importance of raising awareness to all citizens in terms of dealing with meat," he included.
He called on housewives to "take preventive measures by wearing the covers first, beware of wounding the hand while handling meat, and refrain from eye contact while handling meat, because it can be transmitted from the infected animal to the wound on the hand or through eye contact,".
"Do not be afraid of meat if it enters cooking, as the virus dies at high temperatures," he noted.
