Minister of Health Agency Hani Al-Aqabi confirmed today, Thursday, that the ministry was able to control the spread of the Corona pandemic in the country, while at the same time noting that climatic changes led to an increase in the incidence of cancer.
Al-Aqabi said during his speech at the celebration of the occasion of World Health Day and the 30th anniversary of the presence of the World Health Organization in Iraq, which was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the cadres of the Ministry of Health made sacrifices in order to develop work and save the lives of citizens,".
He added, "Iraq, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, was able to train human cadres and give advice," noting that "the ministry made great efforts in opening hospitals and a quality family, and was able to absorb the numbers and reduce the number of deaths in Corona.".
He continued, "There were challenges at the beginning of the spread of Corona represented by a lack of oxygen, but we were able, in cooperation with some countries, to control the matter."
Regarding cancer and the increase in the number of patients, Al-Aqabi stressed that "climate changes in the recent period have cast a shadow over all countries, which led to an increase in cancer diseases and thus an increase in deaths."
He added, "During the current year, there is an attempt to change some health systems and start health insurance to accommodate the number of patients in hospitals."
