National Security Service detachments arrested Wednesday 40 people accused of electronic blackmail.
A statement by INSS , received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "within the duties of the National Security Service and its efforts in combating cyber-extortion crimes, the device's detachments in a number of provinces, and after obtaining judicial approvals, were able to arrest (40) blackmailers during the past two months."
The statement added, "The statements of the accused were fundamentally written down and they confessed of bargaining with the women for sums of money in exchange for not publishing their photos on social media," noting that "all of the accused were referred to the competent legal authorities to receive their just punishment."
