25 Gulf Tournament Inspection Committee decided on Wednesday, the date for visiting Iraq, revealing the reasons of the Kuwaiti visit.
Executive Office of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation held a meeting headed by the Head of the Federation, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, discussing the agenda list including the final amendments adopting to the federation statute, as well as the amendments to the bylaw, the calendar for the next stage, and review of the report of the inspection committee delegation visit to Kuwait, according to a statement by the Iraqi Football Association received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
Secretary-General of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation, Jassem Sultan Al-Rumaihi, confirmed that "the meeting also discussed its schedule for the next stage and reviewed the report of the delegation of Inspection Committee visit to Kuwait,"
"The delegation will visit Iraq and the city of Basra in particular next Friday and will continue until Sunday," he noted.
Regarding the previous visit to Kuwait, the Secretary-General stressed that the visit to Kuwait is a normal visit and according to the directives of the Executive Office and the General Assembly of the Federation, which stipulates the visit of the country that will host the tournament and the alternative country.
"The visit, as I said, is normal and not as was raised about it in the media that the 25th Gulf Cup will be transferred to Kuwait, as the goal is to ensure the readiness of the two countries, candidates for the primary and alternative hosting, according to the contexts and controls of the tournament," he highlighted.
Al-Rumaihi explained that "the final decision will be before June 30th, to resolve the issue of hosting,” expressing his hope that Iraq will host the tournament because the Iraqi street needs it, and “we also hope that Kuwait will be ready in the event that Iraq is not ready to host, especially after signing an agreement with IMG, we seek the tournament to reach to global professional standards in all aspects,”
