Iraq adopted 4 measures that reduced the effect of Corona, WHO says

    World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed today, Monday, that Iraq is able to confront the waves of Corona, while indicating that Iraq  had adopted 4 measures that reduced the effects of the pandemic.
     
    WHO representative in Iraq, Ahmed Zouiten, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “World Health Organization has worked from the first moments with the Iraqi Ministry of Health in the framework of efforts to confront the Corona pandemic, and the whole world at first was not optimally prepared."
     
    Zouiten added, "The difference that made Iraq more able to confront the pandemic, is that the Ministry of Health implements 4 important measures, which are strengthening health staff, intensifying capabilities in laboratories, strengthen recovery and continuous support with medical supplies."
     
    He stressed, "The preparedness is now greater than it was in the first wave," explaining, that "in partnership between the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization and some actors, the ministry can face any wave of Corona."
     
    Earlier, The World Health Organization praised how the Iraqi health system's handling Corona pandemic, and identified its contributions in support of it. 
    the Director of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean, Ahmed Al-Mandhari, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "All health systems, without exception, were subjected to many pressures during the spread of the Corona pandemic, especially in the first weeks of the pandemic in terms of how they dealt with the diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive aspects, and the skill of health staffs and financial support to obtain health supplies to deal with the pandemic.
     
    He explained that "the Iraqi Ministry of Health was able to effectively engage the community to stand against rumors and interact with medical advice, and this is a great challenge."
    Regarding vaccination, he explained that "The vaccination rates decreased in all countries of the world, in addition to the services provided to individuals who suffer from non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, maternity services and others, while health systems in the Eastern Mediterranean Region returned to the previous pattern within one year in providing health services, Noting that "The Eastern Mediterranean Region is the first around the world to restore its activity and health services."
