The Russian Embassy in Baghdad denied Friday the existence of a request to join its military forces.
The embassy said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that it "denies the allegations of some media and social networking sites that were circulated recently regarding the involvement of the Russian Consulate in Basra in any alleged activity related to the request to join the ranks of the Russian forces."
Some media had reported that volunteers had submitted a request to the Russian consulate in Basra in order to join the ranks of the Russian forces to fight in the Ukraine war.
