The first round of meetings to strengthen relations between Iraq and Azerbaijan kicks off

    Iraq and Azerbaijan held the first round of consultations to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries.
     
    The  spokesman of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs-MOFA-, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) today, Friday, that "the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nizar Al-Khairallah, chaired the meetings of the first round of political consultations between the Iraqi and Azerbaijani sides, which was held in Baku on February 9, 2022, while the Undersecretary of Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs Farz Razayev headed the consultations which are held on his country,” noting that “during the meeting, they discussed developing prospects for bilateral relations in various political, economic, scientific and cultural fields.”

    "Both sides addressed opportunities for strengthening economic and tourism relations and trade fields, finding appropriate solutions to all the challenges, discussing the depth of historical relations between the two friendly peoples, as well as cooperation and coordination in multilateral relations, and examining developments in the regional and international situation," Al-Sahaf added.
     
    He added, "During the visit, they met with a number of Azerbaijani officials, led by Foreign Minister Jehon Bayramov, Hikmat Hajiyev, assistant to the President of the Republic for foreign policy affairs, and Samad Sedov, head of the Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee."
