Federal Court has set on Wednesday, the next Sunday as the date for pleading the case against accepting the election of Hoshyar Zebari for the presidency.
"The Federal Supreme Court has set next Sunday, February 3, as the date for the pleading regarding the lawsuit against accepting the candidacy of Zebari, numbered (17 federal),” according to brief statement of the Federal Court, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The Court decided, last Sunday, to temporarily suspend the procedures for electing Zebari for the presidency.
The decision, which was received by INA, stated that it "has decided to suspend the procedures for electing (Hoshyar Mahmoud Muhammad Zebari) for the post of President of the Republic temporarily until the case is resolved (17 Federal / 2022),"
The statement included, "The decision was issued by the majority on Rajab 9 / 1443 AH, corresponding to February, 6th,"
