Baghdad-INA
The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) set on Tuesday a date for resolving the case against presidency candidate Hoshyar Zebari.
“KDP respects the federal court's special decision on temporal suspension for our candidate Hoshyar Zebari," party president Fiyan Sabri told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), adding that "Zebari remains our only candidate for the presidency."
"The case against Zebari will be decided within the next two days, because there is no legal dispute or suspicion against our presidential candidate," she said.
"In the coming days, the case will be resolved, the Order of commitment will be lifted, and Zebari will be returned to the presidential race," she said.
On Sunday, the Federal Court decided to temporarily suspend the election of Hoshyar Zebari to the presidency.
"The court has decided to suspend the process of electing (Hoshyar Mahmoud Mohammed Zebari) to the post of president of the republic temporarily until the case is resolved (17 federal/2022)," the court said in a statement.
"The decision was issued by a majority on 9/1443 Hijri on February 6th," the federal court said.
