The Qatari Cultural Week kicked off in Baghdad on Monday, with the participation and supervision of the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities.
"Coinciding with the ongoing activities of Baghdad as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2025, the Qatari Cultural Week was hosted in Baghdad, with the participation and supervision of the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities," said Al-Rafidain Association for Tourism Promotion in a statement - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
A Qatari delegation headed by the Qatari Minister of Culture, Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani and his accompanying delegation participated in the event. The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badran, received the Qatari delegation at the Baghdad International Hotel.
The Minister of Culture affirmed that "the Qatari delegation's visit to the capital, Baghdad, and its coincidence with the ongoing activities of Baghdad as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2025 and the holding of Qatari Cultural Week in Baghdad, will reflect the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities' commitment to reinstating Iraq on the Arab and international cultural scene and strengthening cultural diplomacy."
"Such events open new horizons for joint tourism cooperation between the two countries," he added.
In turn, the Qatari Minister of Culture expressed his happiness with his visit to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, stating that "the Baghdad, Arab Tourism Capital, activities and the launch of Qatari Cultural Week in the capital reflect the interest of the Iraqi government and Ministry of Culture in revitalizing the tourism sector in the brotherly Republic of Iraq and demonstrate the deep cultural, tourism, and social ties between Qatar and Iraq."
The head of Al-Rafidain Association for Tourism Promotion, Daoud Shamo, stressed "the importance of such events in highlighting Iraqi cultural identity and strengthening the role of cultural tourism as a bridge of communication between peoples."
He affirmed the association's readiness "to support similar initiatives that enhance Iraq's tourism status at the Arab and international levels."
