The first units of the American forces that Washington sent to this country in the context of strengthening the American military presence in Eastern Europe have arrived in Poland, according to the Polish news agency.

The media reported that "the first group of members of the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Airborne Forces arrived at the Jasionka airport near the city of Zhyszow" (about 70 km from the Polish-Ukrainian border).

This news came a day after 8 US planes landed at the same airport, carrying military personnel responsible for preparing to receive the soldiers of the aforementioned division and providing them with logistical support.

Earlier this week, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby announced that the United States had decided to send additional forces to Romania, Poland and Germany, noting that this step was taken by Washington in the context of a "response" to the escalation of tension around Ukraine, although he indicated that American soldiers would not fight in the territories Ukraine.

In recent months, relations between Russia and Western countries have become increasingly tense against the backdrop of allegations by the United States and NATO about Russia's planning to Gaza, Ukraine, which Moscow has repeatedly denied at various levels.
