The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, confirmed that the Iraqi-Syrian borders are fully secured, while he played down the danger of terrorists escaping from a Syrian prison .

Rasoul said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "there are directives issued by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces that included doubling the security effort on the Iraqi-Syrian border, after the events in the Syrian prison of Hasaka.".

He added, "The security forces are ready to confront any attempt by ISIS remnants to infiltrate Iraqi territory," stressing that "the borders are secured with thermal cameras and barbed wire, in addition to the presence of a trench.".

Rasoul indicated that "the remnants of ISIS do not have the ability to confront the Iraqi forces, and the fleeing terrorists do not pose a challenge to the security services.".

Yesterday, Friday, the West Nineveh Operations Command confirmed that terrorists escaping from Syrian prisons have no ability to cross the borders.
