Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology - IMOS clarified on Monday, the developments of the current cold wave, while confirming that the minimum temperatures will record zero degrees Celsius in several regions in the country as it will continue for several days.

"The weather is currently unstable as the current cold wave within the air depression coming from the Mediterranean will affect the country for several days, accompanied by a relatively cold, humid air mass with which temperatures drop in  the coming days,” said the director of IMOS Media Office Amer Al-Jabri, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

Al-Jabri added, "The weather throughout the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with a gradual decrease in temperatures starting today, with expectations of rain, and it will be moderate to be heavy in intensity, especially in the north and east, with torrential rains occurring in it, and there is a decrease in temperatures to reach below zero degrees Celsius on the day starting from tomorrow as this decline will continue for several days, and snow will fall in the northern region. There will be an opportunity for it to fall in the middle, especially in the western part of the central region, such as Al-Rutbah, Akashat and Al-Anbar, which were affected by this decline,”

"The rain will continue in the northern part of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, as this situation will continue until the end of the week, and the torrents will be concentrated in the north in both Erbil and Sulaymaniyah," he explained, noting that "Erbil is constantly exposed to torrential rains because of the intensity and the decrease of rain, so it is subject to floods,"
