The head of the Iraqi Media Network, Dr. Nabil Jassim, inaugurated today, Saturday, the Iraqi Media Museum, which included the holdings used in the emergence of modern Iraqi media in the first half of the last century.
The opening ceremony witnessed a distinguished presence of personalities, intellectuals and artists, including Central Bank Governor Mostafa Mikhaif, veteran director Faisal al-Yasiri and musician Naseer Shamma, in addition to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Jaafar Al-Wanan.
The two-storey museum contains several halls, each of which specialized in a section of media, including the radio station, and displayed the first recording device with primitive transmitters, and the announcer’s microphone, in addition to the old radios - Umm Al-Lumba, while the TV hall contained the first external camera. Interior and studios for important programs such as the news bulletin, sports in a week, and knowledge for all, in addition to pictures of old broadcasters and a part of the dramas produced in radio and television studios.
The museum also contained a rare copy of the Holy Qur’an that was printed in the 1940s in Egypt, and was used on radio for 60 years as a reference for linguistic correction, as well as for use by Qur’an readers. This copy was saved from the radio fire in 2003 by announcer Hoda Ramadan, donated to the museum.
