The father of tennis star Novak Djokovic confirmed, on Thursday that his son has already become a prisoner of the Australian authorities.

British news agency BA Media reported that Djokovic, 34, is being held at the Park Hotel, a state-run quarantine facility in Melbourne that also houses asylum seekers, pending the outcome of an appeal against the Australian Border Force's decision to cancel his entry visa to the country.

Djokovic, who spoke in the past about his position against the vaccine, had posted on social media before traveling to participate in the Australian Open, where he said that he had obtained an exemption permit to enter the country, but the Australian authorities refused this, and said that he had not provided adequate evidence to justify the exemption.
