Maysan: demands to take deterrent measures to curb tribal conflicts

    The people of Maysan province demanded the government to reduce the phenomenon of conflicts and random shooting in the province, while they called on security services to put an end to this phenomenon, which has recently aggravated due to the spread of the unlicensed weapons and ammunitions’ smuggling.
     
     
    The writer Juma al-Maliki told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The issue of armed tribal conflicts has become a phenomenon that threatens civil peace, and one of the most important reasons for the continuation of conflicts is the weak performance of the security forces, the spread of firearms among tribesmen, the escalation of the poverty , drugs, and the increasing rate of Unemployment among young people, and the role of social networking sites in increasing these conflicts, affirming that the solution is to impose the law and order by the police forces."
     
    In turn, the member of the Tribal Conflict Resolution Committee in Maysan Issa Al-Naji said, "The power of the police and security services comes from the power of the state, and all parties and politicians must stand with the state to help it establish security and eliminate clan conflicts that have left more than 1,000 people dead in the past four years."
