The Ministry of Health issued a statement Friday on preventive measures on New Year's Eve, calling on all citizens to exercise caution and abide by preventive measures, especially wearing face masks and maintaining physical spacing.
"The seriousness of the global epidemic situation and its serious challenges as a result of the rapid spread of Omicron, with a rapid and significant rise in the rates of infections in most countries, more than 100 countries registered the new variant," the ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The ministry called on all citizens to exercise caution and adhere to preventive measures, especially wearing face masks, maintaining physical spacing when they are at new year's eve celebrations, and speeding up vaccination access to safe vaccines."
"The ministry reiterates that the vaccine is the most effective way to resist the next wave and that the amount of vaccines currently available at all vaccination outlets is sufficient to cover all target groups, and citizens who have not yet received the vaccine should speed up the approach to receive the vaccine as soon as possible to protect themselves and society from the threat of the epidemic," the statement said.
"We do not forget the heroes of the White Army from our medical, health, administrative, engineering and technical staff at the beginning of the new year, they have all the praise and gratitude and thanks to them for the efforts they have made over the past two years of the epidemic as they strive on various fronts against this serious pandemic," the statement said.
