Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail announced today, Friday, the addition of 400 "million standard cubic feet" to produce Basra gas.

Ismail said during his inspection of the project of the liquid separation plant (NGL) in Artawi, according to a statement of the Ministry of Oil received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The year 2023 will witness the addition of 400 filters to the production of the Basra Gas Company by investing 200 filters of gas as a first stage and after six months. 200 bottles will be added as a second stage through the investment of associated gas from a number of oil fields in Basra Governorate, namely (Rumaila, Zubair and West Qurna), noting that "the completion rate of the project has reached 65%.".

Ismail also explained that "the beginning of 2023 will witness a significant gradual decrease in the quantities of associated gas from all production fields, which is the goal that the companies of the Ministry of Oil are working on and committed to in front of the government and the people," noting that "the first priority for these projects is to stop burning gas and stop using heavy fuels." In the production of electric energy, the second priority is to stop or reduce the import of gas from abroad.”
