The Agency of Intelligence and Federal Investigations (AIFI) at the Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday ,capturing of three gangs of 9 individuals, including a woman, specialized in smuggling antiquities in Babil province.
A statement by the ministry of interior , received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "AIFI was able to arrest three gangs consisting of 9 members, including a woman, in Babil province, in possession of 3 antiquities, 4 antique books and a metal box, a cylindrical manuscript".
the statement added, "the confessions of the defendants were written down and their investigative papers were presented to the investigative judge, who decided to prison them in accordance with the provisions of Article 44 of the Antiquities Smuggling Law."
