Memorandum of Understanding on Scientific Cooperation between Iraq and Italy, MOHESR reports

    The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabil Kadhim Abdel Sahib, held a meeting in the Italian capital, Rome, with his Italian counterpart, Maria Cristina Messa, and they agreed on a memorandum of understanding on scientific cooperation between the two countries.
     
    Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) said in a statement, received by the Iraqi news agency (INA), “During the meeting, which was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Italy Safiya Talib Al-Suhail and Director General of the Department of Missions and Cultural Relations, Dr. Hazem Baqir Taher, stressed the importance of cooperation between Baghdad and Rome on the scientific and academic levels and developing cultural exchange trends through well-prepared programs that achieve their goals within time limits set by both sides.”
     
    The statement added that "The participants agreed on a memorandum of understanding that includes several axes, including twinning programs between university institutions, study and research fellowships, and joint supervision, as well as developing an environment of coordination and understanding to crystallize scientific activities and specialized scientific conferences."
     
    Minster Abdel Sahib expressed the keenness of the Iraqi universities to develop their competitive presence in the international rankings and enhance academic reputation indicators through effective international partnerships.
    On her part, the Italian Minister of Education welcomed this openness and interest in formulating joint projects between the two parties in accordance with the goals pursued by the institutions of higher education and scientific research in the two friendly countries.
