The head of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, confirmed today, Saturday, that the national team's chances of qualifying for the World Cup still exist, and it has 5 matches left in its group.
Darjal said, in a tweet to him on the Twitter platform, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We had a meeting with the delegation of the national team in Doha, and we commended the good performance of the national team in the Syria meeting, which ended in a positive draw.".
He added, "We confirmed that the opportunity still exists for competition, as there are five matches left for the team to invest in the right way."
Last Thursday, our national team drew positively against its Syrian counterpart, with a goal for the same, in the first group matches of the World Cup qualifiers.
The first goal of the match was scored by Syrian striker Omar Al-Soma in the 80th minute, before our team equalized through a penalty kick by Amir Al-Amiri in the 85th minute.
Iran leads the group with 13 points, followed by South Korea with (11) points, then Lebanon with five points, then Iraq with four Points, the Emirates with three points and finally Syria with one point.
