Al-Hakim stresses on calm and calls for avoiding escalation

The head of the Alliance of National State Forces, Ammar al-Hakim, stressed on Wednesday the importance of calm and in all arenas, while calling for avoiding escalation.

"Al Hakim met with the PUK delegation headed by Khaled Shawani as part of his meetings with political blocs to get out of the current crisis in Iraq," hakim's media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi news agency INA.

"Views were exchanged on developments in the Iraqi and regional political scene, as well as discussing scenarios for the next phase in response to the results of the recent elections," the statement said.

Al-Hakim stressed according to the statement that "the importance of calm in all arenas and that the next stage requires the unity of the situation and the participation of the main forces in the political decision-making to avoid the state of blockage."

He called for "avoiding escalation and easing the media tension to a calm political atmosphere capable of producing solutions."
