The Russian government condemned on Monday the assassination attempt on Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi and said it was ready to cooperate with Baghdad.
"Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed by telephone with Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein the attempt on the life of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi," ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters.
"During the conversation, the assassination attempt on Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi by drones on his home in Baghdad's Green Zone was discussed," he said.
"A number of issues were also addressed on the agenda of the Russian-Iraqi Committee for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, the Iraqi part of which is headed by Fouad Hussein," Zakharova said.
