The 34th edition of the Marbad Poetry Festival kicks off

    At a short while ago Inaugurated, the activities of the 34th edition of the Al-Mirbad Poetry Festival (the course of the poet Ibrahim Al-Khayyat) were launched in the province of Basra. 

    The correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said that "the activities of the annual Al-Mirbad poetry festival, in its thirty-fourth edition, were just kicked off in Basra Governorate." 

    The festival, which will be hosted in the gardens of Al-Maqal University and will last for four days, from today until next Sunday, includes the participation of foreign, Arab and Iraqi poets abroad and at home.
    The festival bears the slogan (Al-Mirbad, an oasis of poetry), and contains artistic, cultural and literary activities that include art exhibitions, photography and handicrafts, as well as critical sessions, a book fair, and more.  

    The opening ceremony of the Al-Mirbad Festival, which will be attended by more than 300 foreign, Arab and Iraqi intellectuals, will present the poet Omar Al-Saray. The words of the poet Karim Al-Iraqi, and the music and melodies are for the artist Imad Majeed Al-Ali, then the speech of His Excellency the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, the speech of the Governor of Basra, and then the speech of the head of the delegation of the State of Lebanon (the guest of the festival), the speech of the President of the General Union of Writers and Writers in Iraq, and the speech of the President Basra Writers Union.  

    A group of poets will participate in the opening ceremony of the festival, and they are, Muhammad Hussein Al Yassin from Iraq, downloading Bolgo from Azerbaijan, Karim Maatouq from the Emirates, Muwaffaq Muhammad from Iraq, Mahbouba Ibrahimi from Iran, Yassin Taha Hafez from Iraq, Mutawakil Muhammad Ahmed from Sudan Tawfiq Ahmed from Syria, Yusra Al-Bitar from Lebanon, and Jawad Al-Hattab from Iraq.  

    It is noteworthy that the 33rd Marbad Poetry Festival, which is named after the visual poet Hussein Abdel Latif, concluded in 2019, and it was postponed, as were many cultural events due to the spread of the new Corona virus.
