The media office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein met today with the US Special Envoy for Iran Affairs Robert Malley in Abu Dhabi, and during the meeting, they discussed political and security developments in the region and their repercussions, and the reality of American-Iranian relations and means to activate the dialogues that took place previously,” he said, noting that “the minister stressed the importance of strengthening stability and introducing coordination opportunities and mechanisms, especially since Iraq pursues the principle of de-escalation and the consequent interests of all parties, and its implications for security and peace in the neighborhood of Iraq and the region.
He added, "Hussein touched on the electoral process that took place on October 10, 2021, which reflected popular demand and expressed the interest of the national forces for the success of the electoral process, noting the government efforts that were made to make this experiment a success."
For his part, Robert Malley praised, according to the statement, the important role of Iraq in the region and its quest to build and extend bridges between the countries of the region to resolve rifts through dialogue and peaceful ways.
